Career Scholarship Options for Boone High School Students

Power Equipment Tech Program

Van Wall Equipment includes a full tuition scholarship to candidates that achieve a Power Equipment Technician degree. To complete their degree, students will attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Boone, IA and the CITECenter on the Farm Progress grounds in Boone, IA. The program will prepare students to be technically competent in the areas of electrical, hydraulics, and powertrains on gasoline and diesel equipment including residential, powersports, as well as commercial and light construction equipment. Hands-on training will be emphasized both in the classroom and in work-based training (apprenticeships) in our dealerships and service facilities in central Iowa. Students will also complete academic courses that develop skills needed to work collaboratively. With Van Wall, all the time spent working at the dealerships for the on-the-job training component of the program is paid at a standard hourly rate. Additionally, students will have an opportunity to achieve pay increases during their program by meeting set academic standards.

DMACC

TMC

What is the TMC Scholars program about? A partnership between TMC and DMACC to create opportunity to help train our future workforce and at the same time promote DMACC Diesel Maintenance Program. This scholarship covers tuition for technical training at DMACC, and offers part-time work at TMC while attending school. Successful completion of the DMACC Diesel Maintenance Program qualifies graduates for a full-time position at TMC Transportation (but does not guarantee employment). TMC’s goal is to select persons for long-term employment. We expect TMC Scholars to commit to at least two years of full-time employment at TMC Transportation following graduation, and if not, the student must agree to reimburse the monies paid out on the scholar’s behalf.
