Portrait of a Graduate Spotlight

Our 3rd grade students have been working on projects that highlight the Critical Thinking and Problem Solving piece of Boone Community School District’s Portrait of a Graduate.

They used innovative thinking to design and build prototypes of pet carriers. First, they researched an animal to determine the optimal dimensions for a carrier. Next, they applied their understanding of surface area to calculate the area of the carrier floor and material needed for a pad. Finally, they used their measurement skills to cut and build a three-dimensional prototype of the pet carrier.

At Boone CSD, we are committed to ensuring students in all grades receive opportunities to grow their communication, civic and global engagement, self-awareness, life-ready, resilience, and critical thinking/problem-solving skills. Keep an eye out for more of our Portrait of a Graduate highlights!
