Big THANK YOU to all of our family members who volunteered their time and donated prizes for the Harvest Hoedown! Our students had a great time celebrating their hard work through the first quarter of the school year. We appreciate all of the help and support from our families! Also a big thanks to our BHS students who volunteered to help with booths, face painting and anything else we asked them to do! It's so much fun to see our high school students interacting with and being positive role models for our younger students!

Weather reminder: The weather has been SO nice lately but it's supposed to get much colder starting tomorrow. The forecast says Friday will start out pretty warm and get significantly colder throughout the day, then much colder into the weekend and next week. Please make sure to help your student(s) make responsible choices for weather-appropriate clothing.

Tomorrow is the Harvest Hoedown! This is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work our students have done through the first quarter of the school year. Here are a couple of reminders:
* Students should NOT wear costumes to school. Each class is scheduled for about an hour of the school day for our celebration and the rest of the day will be learning time. They'll have an opportunity to change into costumes before their scheduled time. Please save the face paint for another time since it tends to distract our students from learning.
* Bloody/gory/violent costumes and fake weapons are NOT allowed so those costumes will need to be saved for a time outside of school. Students who bring bloody/violent/gory costumes will not be allowed to wear them for the Harvest Hoedown.
* Students do not need to wear a costume and they will be able to participate in the activities whether they dress up or not. This is a celebration of hard work so we want all students to be included.
Big thanks to all of our families who donated prizes for the booths and to our volunteers. Please make sure to check in at the office at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time and we'll let you know your assigned station. Thanks for helping us make this a fun celebration for all of our students!

We need your help! We are trying to use this as our annual fundraiser, rather than having items you have to sell or collect anything. You will receive a receipt as confirmation that can also be used for a tax deduction.

Franklin Families,
We're proud of our military veterans and would like to honor them for Veteran's Day during the month of November. If you or someone in your family is a veteran and would like to send in a picture with the name, rank, branch of service and years spent in the military, it will be displayed for all of our students to see. Feel free to drop pictures and information at the Franklin office, send them with a Franklin student or email them to Mrs. Skinner (lskinner@boone.k12.ia.us) or Mr. Winter (bwinter@boone.k12.ia.us).
Thank you for helping us honor our veterans!

Mrs. Griffin and Ms. Nolan's classes also received Character Strong certificates as a class last week! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Franklin picture retake day is scheduled for Monday, October 23!

Shout out to Officer MacDougall & Officer Palmer for stopping by at lunch today and hanging out with our students! We appreciate our Boone PD!

Congratulations to our students who received Character Strong certificates at lunch today!

Franklin families: Our elementary PTO is holding a fund drive during the weeks of October 16 - 27. Please see the information below for more information!
Hello!
Our PTO is kicking off a 2 week Donation Drive. We have a goal of collecting $20,000 during the weeks of October 16-27! It seems big but that will cover the PTO budget for about one year. If each child raises $30- that will help us meet our goal!
Your financial contribution during the Donation Drive will go directly into the PTO Budget. 100% of your support goes to those activities that enhance our children’s school experience and helping show gratitude to our teachers!
We Need Your Support! This year we are asking our schools’ families & friends for direct donations to fund our PTO annual budget. There was a pamphlet sent home in Thursday folders with more information as well as the information below. Feel free to share with friends and family!
We will keep our donation progress updated on Thursdays on the school social media pages. Thank you for helping to support our great schools!

Franklin Families: Our annual Harvest Hoedown is scheduled for Friday, October 27. This is a time for our students to celebrate their hard work through the first trimester of the school year and also spend the Pride Points they've collected. In order for the Harvest Hoedown to run smoothly, we're asking for some help from families.
* We need prize donations for the "carnival" booths. Small trinkets, small individually wrapped candy and gently used toys are all great ideas. Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree both have bags of assorted prizes that work great. Feel free to send them to school in a backpack or drop them off at the Franklin office before the 27th.
* We're looking for volunteers to help with the games and activities. There are 5 different times during the day and 3 classes will go at each time slot. We're hoping to get 20 volunteers for each of the time slots, along with some high school helpers. Please use the link below to sign up for a time if you're willing to volunteer. It's a fun time for our students and a good way to celebrate their hard work.
We'll send out more information about the harvest hoedown as it gets closer. Any help from families would be greatly appreciated!
