We had a special guest at Franklin today! Dr. Ann Lebo, director of the Iowa Department of Education stopped by to see the technology, STEM and coding work out students have been doing. They were great representatives for our school and community!

Franklin Families: As the weather continues to get nicer, we just want to remind everyone about our morning procedure. The breakfast doors open at 7:40 for students eating school breakfast. The front doors open at 7:45 for all students that don’t eat school breakfast and the tardy bell rings at 8:15. There is no supervision before 7:45 and students should not arrive at school or be dropped off before that time. We’re noticing a growing number of students arriving very early at school so wanted to share a quick reminder. Thanks for your support with this!

We’re excited to welcome Amanda Cunningham to our team at Franklin. Amanda will be teaching general music beginning in the fall of 2021. She’s a familiar face around our community. She taught elementary music in Boone for several years before moving to Boone Middle School where she’s been teaching vocal music for the past 10 years. Amanda is excited about getting back to the elementary level and we’re excited to have her join Team Franklin!

Congratulations to our students who received Kid of Character certificates today at lunch! We did something new with Kid of Character today. Each student who received a Kid of Character certificate also got 2 Dairy Queen coupons. They had the option of giving one or both of them away as a way to make someone else’s day. It was amazing to see how many of our students gave both of their coupons away to friends and how much that meant to the students who received them. Good job, Franklin students! Have a great weekend!

We are elated to share that Covid -19 waiver extensions were just announced and students will continue to benefit greatly by receiving free meals through the 2021/2022 school year! School nutrition staff will continue to provide safe, equal access to healthy school meals. We take pride in maintaining our mission of nourishing students and getting them ready to learn in addition to helping our community families that may be struggling with meal service challenges. Hooray for free school meals!

Reminder: Students are required to wear masks at school through the end of the school year. Please remember to send a mask to school with your student every day. We've been handing out lots of masks daily to students who come to school without one and many times those masks are not returned the following day. Thanks for your support to keep our students safe and healthy!

3rd & 4th Grade Parents: Information about ISASP testing was sent home several weeks ago. As a reminder, the testing schedule for both on-site and online students is attached. All 3rd & 4th grade students are required to take the ISASP test so please try to plan appointments and absences around testing if at all possible. It's also important for students to get good rest each night before testing and to eat a good breakfast each morning. Please contact the Franklin office with any questions! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JyIN2e0BjFjXJP8l8Pif2LCRASsKpyAk4GfsWHEFAio/edit?usp=sharing
