During Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, we are emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe, positive, and welcoming learning environment in our schools. We encourage all students to choose kindness and be mindful of how they treat others.

Kyler is among 34,000 Commended Students recognized by the National Merit® Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic potential and performance on the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October. Indigenous Peoples’ Day provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the foundational history of this land. We are grateful for the indigenous communities who have shaped and continue to shape our world.

In recognition of Manufacturing Day, several Boone High School students had the opportunity to tour and learn about several different local manufacturing companies! They heard from Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of KENT Corporation, Gage Kent, and engaged with professionals from companies such as Burke, AgCertain, Sukup, Lane Trailer Manufacturing, and Barilla. It's amazing to see our future leaders connecting with industry experts and exploring exciting career possibilities in manufacturing. 🌟 Thank you to @Ames Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the day’s activities!

Join us for an evening of literacy fun on Thursday, October 19, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School. 🍽️ Enjoy a FREE dinner with your loved ones! 📖 Engage in a variety of exciting reading and writing activities! NOTE: If you have gently used picture and chapter books you'd like to share, we'd love your donations! Simply drop them off at the Franklin or Ledges office or send them in your child’s backpack, clearly marked for donation. Let's celebrate the joy of reading and writing together! 🎉

📚🌟 Join us in congratulating Boone High School student Miles Tungesvik on being named a Semifinalist in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program! This prestigious recognition puts him in an elite group of high scorers representing less than 1% of graduating high school seniors in the United States. Over 1.3 million students entered the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test last October, which is the initial screener of qualified applicants. Only around 16,000 high scorers were named Semifinalists. Semifinalists must meet several requirements to reach Finalist status, with about 95% expected to do so. Around half of the Finalists will earn National Merit Scholarships. Winners for 2024 will be announced between April and July of next year. Miles excels academically, taking on challenging coursework in Honors, DMACC, and Advanced Placement classes. He's also a well-rounded leader, actively participating in Band, Chorale, Football, Soccer, Baseball, Theater, National Honor Society, and more. We're incredibly proud and wish him success in the next competition stages! 👏
