Join us in congratulating BHS student Jonathan Aucker on being named a Semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit® Scholarship Program! 🎉 Jonathan plans to pursue a double major in math and physics at a leading STEM college. His goal is to earn at least one PhD and eventually reach and conduct research at the university level. Outside the classroom, he is involved in activities such as dance, theater, choir/chorale, the Raccoon River Conference Honor Choir, and quiz bowl, and he occasionally tutors fellow students. Jonathan is among 16,000 students nationwide named as semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship program. Over 1.3 million juniors entered the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. ➡️ Read more here: https://www.boonecsd.org/article/1789401

One in five children and adolescents experiences a mental health challenge each year, according to the CDC. This means that issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral problems are incredibly common among kids and teens. The prevalence of mental health struggles highlights that these challenges are part of the human experience—not a sign of personal failure. Seeking help is a vital step toward healing, just like seeing a doctor for a physical illness. By normalizing conversations around mental health, we can break down stigma and encourage kids and teens to get the support they need. 💚
