Today's alumni spotlight is Amy Crouthamel (Carlson), a member of the BHS Class of 1991! 💫
Her typing teachers—Mrs. Thorngren, Mrs. J Duffy, and Ms. Duffelmeier—made a huge impact on her, and Swing Choir was her passion. She received an associate degree from DMACC and is now a medical coder at Boone County Hospital.
“My job is somewhat 'behind the scenes,' but I have learned new skill sets to help patients, physicians, and the hospital provide medical necessity and proper payment due to medical diagnoses in the electronic health record,” she says. “I also work a PRN side job doing transcription for Doran Clinic on occasion. Medical transcription is my true love.”
Thank you for sharing your story, Amy!

Eric Ver Helst graduated in 2000 and is now the sports information director at DMACC in Boone! He's been working in the athletic department since he graduated from BHS.
He fondly remembers Ann Haugland, his speech teacher. She helped him gain confidence in his public speaking, and as the yearbook sports editor, she pushed him to get the best story possible.
Over the years, Eric has announced at the IGHSAU State Basketball Tournament, where he was behind the mic for seven state championship games. He’s been the head statistician at the IHSAA State Baseball Tournament since 2020.
When he's not working, Eric volunteers his time with the basketball, baseball, and softball teams at BHS. 🏀⚾

Jaslyn Reinsel (Clark) was a varsity football cheerleader for three years and graduated from Boone High School in 2013! 💫

They were always patient and made a lasting impact on my life.”
Thanks for sharing your memories and achievements, Jaslyn!
