🌟 Exciting news! We were awarded three Scale-Up Grants by the North Central Iowa STEM Region Advisory Board for Boone elementary students! 🚀 Here's what's coming:
➡️ Exploring and Connecting to Iowa’s Agriculture: The science units and STEM curriculum will be refined to create integrated learning experiences for students that are connected to careers. The lessons will help us align science, math, literacy, and engineering standards with the concepts displayed on the tours of farms and agriculture-related businesses.
➡️Investigating Everyday Phenomena: Four modules of hands-on science instruction will be implemented with our first grade students. The materials from this award will help us pilot this approach and expand it to other elementary grades.
➡️ All About Balance: Pre-K through 2nd grade students will receive integrated STEM lessons that align with science, technology, math, and literacy standards around the concept of balance.
We are eager to offer these improved educational opportunities to our students!

REMINDER: We will have a regular two-hour early dismissal on Wednesday, May 1. ⏰

As we wrap up Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month, we’re thrilled to recognize the diverse linguistic talents of our students. Learning a new language isn't just about communication—it's about unlocking a world of opportunity! 🌎
At Boone CSD, we offer the biliteracy seal to our students, which means they have mastered at least two languages. In a few weeks, we will have several high school students graduating with the biliteracy seal! Learn more about the seal here: https://educate.iowa.gov/pk-12/standards/instruction/biliteracy-seal.

The National Honor Society Induction takes place today from 3:00 to 4:00pm, in the BHS Auditorium.
Congratulations to all inductees! We're so proud of your achievements. 🙌

Tonight is the Boone High School FFA Banquet! The festivities run from 6:00 to 8:00pm at BHS. Have a wonderful time!

Rotary District 6000 has honored Boone Community School District Board of Education Member Matt Elthon with the Paul E. Hellwege Guardian of Integrity Award.
The award, named after the late District Governor Paul Hellwege, recognizes Rotarians who demonstrate a profound commitment to ethics and integrity in both their professional and personal lives. Elthon received the award at a celebration event on April 20.
“Matt’s steadfast commitment to integrity and ethical leadership not only uplifts the Board of Education’s work, but also sets a powerful example for our community,” said Julie Trepa, BCSD Superintendent. “His recognition with this prestigious award reflects the high standards and values we strive to embody every day in our schools and community.”
Since its inception in 2010-11, the Guardian of Integrity Award has been presented annually to select Rotarians who have been members for at least three years and who embody Hellwege's passion for ethics. Elthon’s dedication to upholding these principles in his roles within the realms of business, education, and community service led to his nomination and subsequent recognition.
The District 6000 Vocational Service Team oversees the nominations and selection process for the accolade. The award highlights the efforts of individuals who, through their actions, writings, policies, and public statements, have significantly contributed to the development of integrity and ethical practices across various fields.
