Join us in congratulating BHS student Jonathan Aucker on being named a Semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit® Scholarship Program! 🎉
Jonathan plans to pursue a double major in math and physics at a leading STEM college. His goal is to earn at least one PhD and eventually reach and conduct research at the university level. Outside the classroom, he is involved in activities such as dance, theater, choir/chorale, the Raccoon River Conference Honor Choir, and quiz bowl, and he occasionally tutors fellow students.
Jonathan is among 16,000 students nationwide named as semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship program. Over 1.3 million juniors entered the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

🎓 Meet Brittany McCumber, our Homegrown Hero! Brittany is Franklin Elementary's Secretary and Boone Class of 2012 alum!
Brittany has been married to her husband Tyler for 7 years, and together they have two kids, Brock and Payton, plus their Black Lab, Lambeau! When she's not keeping things running smoothly at Franklin, you can find her cheering on Brock at the race track where he races his winged kart.
We’re so lucky to have Brittany as part of the Boone family! 💚

Today we’re excited to highlight Tasha Faulkner, a member of the BHS Class of 2013! Now serving as a classroom associate, her dedication and support for our students creates a nurturing environment where all kids can thrive. 🤩
Join us in celebrating Tasha and all our alumni who contribute to making our school district a nurturing environment for all students!

One in five children and adolescents experiences a mental health challenge each year, according to the CDC. This means that issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral problems are incredibly common among kids and teens.
The prevalence of mental health struggles highlights that these challenges are part of the human experience—not a sign of personal failure. Seeking help is a vital step toward healing, just like seeing a doctor for a physical illness.
By normalizing conversations around mental health, we can break down stigma and encourage kids and teens to get the support they need. 💚

Did you know? A correctly worn backpack can help prevent spine and shoulder injuries. Here’s how:
✅ Tighten the straps to keep the backpack close to your body
✅ Pack heavier items close to your back
✅ Keep the load manageable at 10-15% of your weight
Consider these tips as we recognize National School Backpack Awareness Day! 🎒

Reminder: Students will be dismissed two hours early on Wednesday, September 18. ⏰

During National Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the stories, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. 🌍
Let’s continue to learn from one another!

Attendance matters! Regular attendance not only helps students grasp the concepts better, but it also keeps them connected with teachers and friends.
Parents and guardians, your role in this is crucial. Encourage your child to attend school regularly and support their academic progress. 🤝

Let us take a moment today to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the heroes who risked everything to save others and our nation’s enduring spirit in the face of adversity.
